Steward of the Month – June 2010

Teri MacDonald

CVS #9698

”When you work in the industry for more than three decades you learn a lot,” said steward Teri MacDonald.

That’s why MacDonald, a pharmacy tech and steward at CVS 9698 in Upland, decided to become a steward.

“Because I’ve been around a while, members would come to me with questions and concerns,” MacDonald said. “While I could help them with a lot of things, there was still a lot I needed to learn.”

So MacDonald began to attend steward training sessions and general membership meetings.

“No matter how long you work, there is always something new you can learn,” she said. “As the union’s eyes and ears in the stores, stewards play a crucial role, so it’s important to know the contract and know when to call in your union representative.”

MacDonald has always been a strong supporter of the union.

“The people who work for the union care about you,” she said. “This is apparent in everyone I come in contact with, from the office staff to the union representatives all the way up to our top leadership.”
